Cristiano Ronaldo Backs Injured Kvaratskhelia

Cristiano Ronaldo backs Kvaratskhelia after the Paris Saint-Germain forward suffered a serious knee injury during the French club’s 4-2 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

The Georgian took a cross from Barcelona’s Xavi Espart, which hit his right knee, in Tuesday’s match at the Parc des Princes. Kvaratskhelia was unable to bear the weight of his right leg and was substituted in the 59th minute, prompting concern about how serious the injury was.

The forward’s knee condition was confirmed as a serious ailment on Wednesday by PSG, which have been chasing a further Champions League title. One of football’s greatest stars, Ronaldo, provided support to Kvaratskhelia in a comment on the Georgian’s Instagram post. The message comes after the PSG star had a heartfelt post on the injury and his desire to return.

“Before each match I prayed to God to keep me fit. “But all this was for nothing,” Kvaratskhelia continued.

The 25-year-old also had to concede that he had difficulties in comprehending how the injury could have occurred despite his efforts to prepare for the Barcelona match. He assured the supporters that he would come back stronger and thanked them for their support.

“But I have to come back to my people stronger; they are always with me, so I am not going to waste any time in my process of recovery,” he added.

Kvaratskhelia would be a huge loss for PSG, especially after the impact he had on the previous campaign in the Champions League. The club started the league phase of this season with three consecutive wins and hopes to obtain three consecutive European titles.

But the injury could derail those plans with the French side potentially losing one of their most pivotal attacking players at an important juncture of the tournament.
