Lionel Messi Inter Miami was the biggest topic of discussion on Wednesday when the Argentine star did not show up at the training session of the team before they traveled to Puerto Rico. Questions began to arise promptly with the lack of the game, Inter Miami due to play their last preseason game on Friday night.
Messi was not in attendance at the training facility; he never participated in the session that was made open to the media. There has been no official explanation provided yet. This act of silence has automatically spurred speculation though there is no clarification of a major problem. Interestingly, his children also visited the facility, which does not mean that Messi was disrupted significantly.
His absence has attracted attention at the time of his absence. His last preseason goal was in Ecuador last weekend when Messi, in a 2-2 draw with Barcelona SC, scored his first preseason goal. But he was replaced in the 57 th minute. That was a more timely departure than other games. He was also observed as having a short chat with the head coach Javier Mascherano on leaving the pitch. This shot foreshadowed the fact that something could not be comfortable or a slight fitness issue.
The training session of Inter Miami also lacked certain other names. German Berterame was away because of outstanding U.S. work visa clearance. He can even miss the Puerto Rico match as it is an American territory. Green card paperwork is also being done by Telasco Segovia and Maxi Falcon thus they are restricted.
In spite of these factors, Miami preseason has been both good and competitive in Inter Miami. The club has played one match in South America which resulted in a single win, loss, and draw. The game on Friday will be their final warm-up, prior to the onset of the 2026 MLS.
