Manchester City Sign Allan Elias

Manchester City have inked Brazilian club Palmeiras’ Allan Elias to a five-year deal. The Premier League club announced the deal on Monday without giving any details of the deal’s financial terms. According to reports, Manchester City have agreed a deal to pay the Brazilian attacker around €40m ($47m).

Elias is City’s sixth signing of the season as Pep Guardiola works to bolster his team ahead of the new season. The winger has moved up through the Palmeiras’ club system to be a senior player.

Elias recorded 96 first-team starts for the São Paulo team, while his young age provided him with a huge amount of experience. His speed, attacking prowess and flexibility will provide another alternative for Manchester City in wide players. However, City Director of Football Hugo Viana was pleased with the deal, calling Elias an “exciting young talent” who can play a big role for the team.

“Allan is an extremely promising player and we believe he will be a significant addition to the team,” Viana said in a statement from the club.

He also noted that the Brazilian’s mindset to improve, stating that Elias has shown throughout his career that he is willing to work hard to get to the top.

The signing follows a summer recruitment campaign that included Elias, who is the most recent signing for Manchester City to make on multiple fronts. His introduction also marks yet another ploy to invest in a youngster who could see further development in English football.
