Mbappe knee injury has been confirmed by Real Madrid after the France forward was diagnosed with a hyperextension of the posterior capsule in his left knee.
France’s 27-year-old netted the only goal in their Nations League win over Turkey on Friday but was unable to get through to the end of the game after seemingly aggravating a knee problem early in the match. Mbappe was initially treated on the pitch before briefly trying to play on for about 10 minutes. But he was brought down again in the first minute of the second half and the French coach Zinedine Zidane eventually removed him in the 58th minute.
On Sunday, following the game, Zidane said he had already expressed his concern about the forward’s condition, stating that Mbappe’s knee had puffed up. The France coach has indicated that he wouldn’t take a chance on the Real Madrid player.
Real Madrid then sent a team to the club for their own physical examination, and in an official statement confirmed the injury.
The club said that following the tests Real Madrid’s Medical Services conducted today on their player Kylian Mbappe, he has been diagnosed with a hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee.
The diagnosis follows Mbappe’s quick breakout from the international game on Friday in which he scored the game-winning goal. But because he left early he became a focus of fitness, not a result. Real Madrid or France hasn’t given an exact recovery date, so it remains a mystery how long Mbappe will be out.
Now the forward’s condition will be closely followed by Real Madrid’s medical team as the club tries to work out the severity of the problem and decide on his rehabilitation.
