It is the hope of Wayne Rooney that, at the end of this season, Pep Guardiola will still be at Manchester City. The ex-Manchester United captain commended Guardiola because he established a high standard that other managers would be desiring to emulate.
Guardiola, aged 55, has been the manager of the club since 2016. Under his reign, he has also been the one to win the club six premier league titles and could win a seventh in the current season. This success notwithstanding, the question of whether he will remain in the Etihad Stadium next season is still under speculation. This is likely to be determined during or after the current campaign which is a decision regarding his future.
Rooney expressed his opinion in the most recent episode of The Wayne Rooney Show, admitting that there can be a difference in the opinion of the players concerning the future of a manager. There are some players who will wish that he should go and wish that he should remain. It is based on whether one is in the team or not and so is the case with any manager explained him.
Nevertheless, Rooney pointed out the necessity of continuity in case Guardiola leaves. He proposed that the best option would be a club legend that can provide insight into the culture of City. In case Pep does go, they must go and fetch Vincent Kompany. He is familiar with the club and he has had a successful experience with Bayern in the same manner. He has been taught by Pep, I guess,” Rooney said.
