Luis Enrique has agreed to a three-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain, extending the Spaniard’s tenure at the French champions until 2030. PSG made the deal available Friday, as Enrique’s current deal was coming up for renewal at the end of this season. The new deal is in return for the 56-year-old for an extraordinarily fruitful spell at the Parc des Princes.
Since arriving at PSG, Enrique has created a significant identity change for the club and has been instrumental in the huge successes since he has been in place. His future can now be expected to be an integral part of the club’s long-term sporting project.
The contract was announced ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 match at the Parc des Princes against Monaco, where several key players’ futures were also up for discussion.
There were five PSG players who signed their long-term futures with the club with Enrique. Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz, Willian Pacho, Lucas Beraldo and Senny Mayulu have all signed new deals.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi welcomed the extensions, noting the critical role of the coach and players in the club’s endeavors. They are the current and future of our club’s project, Al-Khelaifi said. The renewals are an indication that PSG is looking to continue the momentum and not make any disruptive changes after the fruitful years.
The extension is for Enrique’s comfort, as he now works with a squad that’s being built for continued success at home and in Europe. Now he will remain at the club until 2030 with PSG as the mainstay of the club’s strategy for the rest of the decade. PSG have reinforced their base both on and off the pitch with the reinforcements of Enrique and some of the key players.
