Fuellkrug Earns Germany Recall After Goal Rush

Fuellkrug Germany recall has become one of the major talking points ahead of this month’s UEFA Nations League fixtures after the Werder Bremen striker earned a national team return following an impressive Bundesliga scoring run.

The 33-year-old striker was called up to Germany’s squad on Thursday, having scored nine goals in his first eight appearances for Werder Bremen on Wednesday on a one-year loan from West Ham United. He has been a top scorer in the Bundesliga and in over a year has been called up as an international.

Fuellkrug’s return follows rising demands from German soccer fans for him to play and a positive turnaround in his form, which is the reason for his return at the international level.

German manager Jurgen Klopp had previously indicated that it could be difficult for the striker to be recalled due to his age. But his displays have seemingly made the manager rethink his evaluation in advance of two key matches. Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Wael Mohya (17) has also received his first senior team call-up, thanks to Klopp.

Germany will play Serbia in Belgrade on November 13 before opening the door for the Netherlands in Berlin three days later. Klopp pointed out the balance between youngsters and veterans, explaining his choices. The Germany coach noted that the team is made up of a wide age group of players, with plenty of experienced ones and youngsters.

He also admitted that the task of completing the team was tough as they had already made two separate selections of 44 players for the four Nations League games in September. Germany sit in third place in the UEFA Nations League Group A2 with four wins and one draw from four games. The Netherlands and Greece are first with eight points, and Serbia is last with none.
