Inter Milan Crush Feyenoord to Revive Campaign

Inter Milan’s win over Feyenoord gave their UEFA Champions League run much-needed momentum as the Italian giants decisively beat the Rotterdammer 3-0 away from home at Stadion Feijenoord on Tuesday. Inter had lost their first two group games, but had a great night on the attack, putting three points on the board with Yann Bisseck, Pio Esposito and Piotr Zielinski.

It was the visitors who got the first break, in the eighth minute, through the efforts of German defender Bisseck. He found his own room outside the box, gave himself time to set up and then delivered a great curling left-footed shot past Tjark Ernst in the bottom corner that he was unable to save.

However, Inter kept the pressure on with a high-intensity pressing and attacking style, and it did not help that they were able to pick up the pace.

They dominated the rest of the evening to produce a second goal soon. Djed Spence was able to find a way past a defender, was deflected by another man, and had the result picked up by Pio Esposito, who used a close-range header to find the back of the net.

Feyenoord failed to find an answer and Inter continued to menace with their attacks. The visitors were soon out of the running, in the 54th minute, as Piotr Zielinski, the Polish midfielder, made it 3-0. Zielinski took a chance on the hesitations of the home defence, blasting through the posts before crossing the goal line.

Having their advantage comfortably, Inter manager Cristian Chivu made a few changes, among which the withdrawal of the striker Marcus Thuram to control his team’s workload. The second half also saw a strange break when fireworks fired from outside the stadium fell on the pitch and roof of the stadium. Inter were never out of control and held a commanding lead until the end, despite the chaos.
