Savinho Tottenham transfer done, the Brazil international winger has signed for Manchester City in a deal that sees him sit on a £85m ($116m) budget, making Roberto De Zerbi have one more option at Tottenham.
Spurs have been monitoring the 22-year-old over the last year or so, and began to register interest last summer. Savinho said he was very pleased to finally relocate and feels his work with De Zerbi will help him take his game to the next level.
I’m pleased to be here, it took a while,” Savio said. “It’s a really good opportunity at a great club and one of the best managers in the world.”
The winger said he had talked to De Zerbi and decided to join him as the Tottenham head coach explained to him how he could assist the player in becoming an even better player. Johan Lange, Tottenham’s sporting director, stated that he had been on the club’s radar for some time and noted the technical quality, playing style and mentality were all significant factors in the move.
Savinho joined Troyes from Newcastle in 2024 but played only one season with the club, as he moved to Manchester City. He appeared 53 times, to score twice and disburse 12 assists in total for the club. But Tottenham will have also spent more than £300m ($408.9m) in the summer transfer window, and have made significant cash from selling players.
The signing comes as De Zerbi’s attacking arsenal was depleted in his Premier League debut as Tottenham found themselves lacking on the right bank of the park during their first game against Brentford, where youngster Mikey Moore was playing for the academy.
It is also thought Tottenham will be bolstered further with reports that Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush is set to join the north Londoners. That is why Savinho’s debut could form an element of the attacking makeover as De Zerbi works on the Spurs squad.
